Occupations: Landen is a senior project manager and Gretchen is an art director. How they met: "We met through mutual friends," Gretchen says. "Our first date was at a local taphouse. I think we were there for about four hours — we eventually had to leave because they were closing. We saw each other almost every day for a few weeks after that and haven't stopped since. I knew I was going to marry him on our first date." Engagement story: "ree years into dating we planned a Europe trip. Landen had been a few times but I hadn't and was dying to go. Landen is a planner so he organized the whole thing — what cities, trains, restaurants, museums, everything. Our second stop on the trip was Paris. e first day we arrived I was tired from our train ride from Amsterdam and was grumpy. After we checked into the Airbnb, Landen had the idea of going for a walk and picnic at Montmartre. We stopped at a bodega around the corner and picked up some bread, meat, cheeses and some wine and started our long trek to Montmartre. We ate our dinner on the steps and then went exploring, finally stopping at a small staircase that overlooked all of Paris. Landen proposed to me there and we continued celebrating. It was perfect." Wedding guests: Roughly 125. Ceremony and reception: Tim Faulkner Art Gallery. Decor: e current art show and DIY. Personal touches: "I have wonderful friends," Gretchen says. "e best part was having them be a part of my wedding. Emily, my wedding planner, is a close friend and she made the day perfect. Our DJ was another friend; we love his style and, honestly, our wedding would not have been as fun without him. Our officiant is a dear friend who helped us tremendously along the way. Our vendors were amazing and we loved having pizza! We ended up choosing MozzaPi after searching high and low for a caterer that offered something different than your typical buffet and that was in our price range. Having pizza served added a unique element." First-dance song: "is Must Be the Place," Talking Heads. e day in three
