9 6 S p r i n g | S u m m e r B R I D E Richie Goff & Lucas Meyer In the middle of wedding season last summer, we got one more reason to celebrate: marriage equality. Richie Gof and Lucas Meyer were at work on June 26, the day the Supreme Court made the big decision to legalize same-sex marriage in the United States. It was a Friday and Gof, 26, remembers his co-workers at the Kentucky Center celebrating. One ran down the hallway to give him a congratulatory hug. The TV was turned to the news at the salon where Meyer, 31, was coloring a client's hair. The couple had been engaged since January 2013 and they were waiting for same-sex marriage to be legal in Kentucky. Four days after the Supreme Court's decision, they went to the county clerk's ofce. They had their ceremony at the mass marriage celebration in front of the Highlands Tap Room on Bardstown Road that night. "I ended up just texting him and saying, 'I think we should get married today,'" Meyer says. "It was time. Everyone had been asking for a year and a half, 'When are you going to get married?'"
