S p r i n g | S u m m e r B R I D E 2 9 The Wedding of May 15, 2015 Beach to Bash Holly Weyler & JK McKnight Ages: She's 29; he's 34. Occupations: She's director of public relations and events at 21c Museum Hotels; he's the founder of the Forecastle Festival. How they met: Holly volunteered her PR skills for the Forecastle Festival. Engagement: On vacation with Holly's family in Pawley's Island, South Carolina. "One afternoon, we rode bikes down to the south tip of the island, where JK wanted to 'check out the fshing conditions,'" Holly says. "When we got to the very end, with waves lapping our toes, he got down on one knee." Wedding: On the beach at 8 a.m. in Ambergris Cay, Belize. Wedding guests: Three — Holly's sister, JK's sister and brother-in-law. "We were engaged for so long and we just kept putting it of. We knew we were going to have like a 500-person wedding and neither of us really wanted to do that," Holly says. Reception: A couple weeks later at Copper & Kings. Guests: About 400. On the menu: Appetizers from Feast BBQ, brandy cocktails and wine from Holly's dad's winery. What they're glad they did: A low-main- tenance destination ceremony. "Before we got married, a lot of our friends who'd been married said 'My wedding was great but if I did go back, I would elope,'" Holly says. "We heard that from so many people and even- tually we decided to listen to them." Holly's words of wisdom about planning: "At the end of the day, you're there because you want to be married to this person, not because you want to throw a party with them." Their one disagreement: "We disagreed about how many White Castles were the right amount of White Castles for a late night snack." They ended up with 150.
