S p r i n g | S u m m e r B R I D E 2 5 The Wedding of September 5, 2015 Period Piece Ages: She's 27; he's 30. Occupations: Charlie Ray's in retail automotive sales; Erin's a customer-success operations manag- er at Red e App. How they met: Erin knew Charlie Ray's older brother, who introduced them. Engagement: Walking back to Erin's house in Crescent Hill after a dinner date. Wedding: Sojourn Community Church. Reception: Louisville Country Club. Guests: 225. Special wedding-day attire: Erin wore a family heirloom dress (with a few alterations) originally worn by her grandmother in 1946 and worn by her mom and two aunts. Charley Ray and his groomsmen wore Montgomery tartan bow ties as a nod to the family's Scottish ancestry. Erin wore a pair of custom heels with the pattern. Reception entertainment: Jazz by the Bizianes Brothers, music by Clyde Brown Band. Special touches: Silverware from both families was used for dinner. Erin hunted for vintage postage stamps on eBay for the invitations — each envelope had a combination of stamps from the early 1900s to the 1980s that added up to the current postal rate. What Erin's really glad she did: "I'm so glad I held out and did not see Charlie Ray until I walked down the aisle. The anticipation was nerve-wracking and wonderful at the same time, and when the doors to the church opened, it was a feeling I will never forget." She's also glad she chose a color palette and let her bridesmaids choose their own dresses from there. Planning advice Erin got from her mom: "Don't try to please everyone because everyone will have an opinion on your day."
